“ The question for Mr. Samuelsson and other rising stars is how far and how fast they can push a personal brand. The more business ventures they start, the less they can personally control the quality. It is a quandary that any successful entrepreneur faces as a business grows. ”
There seems to be a new trend happening with Black success stories—like Marcus Samuelsson and Pharrell Williams. After reaching the top of their careers, they tend to branch out and get involved with as many projects as possible. Personally, I like this approach if they can prove success in these new areas; it only helps the next generation feel comfortable to innovate in that way. However, quality should always come over quantity—trying to avoid brand dilution is a big challenge.
